Building on our popular PLSS Legal Land Description GPS Maps for Garmin GPS systems, we are pleased to launch our Android and iPhone Apps. GPS Section Finder allows you to search for the location of any section in one of the included States (see below for list of States) and see the location on a map. You can also navigate to the location using Google Maps, compile a list of favorite section locations for easy recall, and see a list of the last 20 searches you performed.

The Ultimate Mobile PLSS Locator!
The Locate feature takes your GPS location and looks for the sections in your vicinity. On the resulting map screen you see your location (in green) and the sections around you (in red). Just tap a red marker to read off the legal description. *This feature requires the app to re-send the query to the database if you move more than a hundred metres, or uses a time interval, so if you are traveling fast it will not function correctly.
How To Search for a Section:1. Select the required State, Township & Direction, Range & Direction, and Section Number from the dropdown boxes2. Tap 'Convert'3. You will see the location displayed on the map.4. Tap 'Add to favorites' to add a name to the location and save it to the favorites list.5. Tap 'Navigate' to open Google Maps and navigate to the closest road to the section.6. When you reach the target area, use the 'Locate' feature to confirm you are on the correct section .
How to see your location:1. Make sure you have GPS fix2. Tap 'Locate'3. On the map tap any red marker to read off the PLSS legal description
THIS APP REQUIRES A DATA CONNECTION. Because the database containing the LLD's is very large the app needs to send the query to an online server. If you have issues getting a reliable data connection you may wish to check our standalone maps for Garmin GPS units that are installed to the GPS on a memory card, see www.gps4ag.com for more info.
If you run the app indoors the Locate feature may show your current location some distance from your actual location. This is because the device uses network location when GPS is unavailable. When you go outside, restart the app and wait until you get GPS fix.
Apologies the description did state the app contained quarter sections, however it actually contains just the sections as quarter section data are not available for many states. Sections will get you to the center of the section (a section is a square mile).
In response to the comment about meridians, i have yet to find a situation where there are duplicate range/townships in different meridians, if anyone does please email me!
